Streets of Rage II had one of the best/most memorable soundtracks and sound effects in gaming history. I’d recognize any song from that game. And the ending credits song almost brings a tear to my eye!

    Amazing podcast.
It is funny because when I was finished listening to the show I started it over again just to hear the sweet SEGA Genesis music again.
You left out tons of other great game Genesis music but if you had it all the podcast it would be 8 hours long.

Keep up the great work. MEGA Turrican rocks!

Great episode. The only thing is, that EA music is exactly the kind of harsh metallic sounding stuff that a,it of people complain about. And all those EA games sound real similar. Compositionally they are fine, but I really don’t care for the harshness. The rest of the stuff was all great.

Great episode. I’m a little ashamed of myself that I can’t think of any standout Genesis games based on music alone. For some reason I don’t have a great memory forthe music. That Outrun track was awesome though! So calm and soothing.

The last segment about Vita and stuff was great too. I am totally torn on the digital/physical purchases these days. The collector in me wants the physical copies, but having all the games on the device digitally is just so convenient. No discs/cartridges to swap is awesome. I’m trying to just be very selective about it. Games I know I will play for a long time or are super cheap I’ll buy digitally. Such as Animal Crossing New Leaf.

Anyway, keep up the good work!

What’s the song at the two hour 12 minute mark?! Also, nice podcast, but quite a few crap songs were included seemingly just because they come from games which satisfy the try-hard/trendy/hipster/neogaf-type fans. Anyways, great job, you’ve got yourselves a new fan 🙂

  6. I believe it is the credits track for Streets of Rage 2. We included music we like, don’t over analyze it.

Really enjoyed the podcast gents. It was a great listen. I thought the intro track to Thunderforce IV was absolutely superb too – suits the grungy intro perfectly. The best 35 seconds you’ll ever spend …

Keep up the great work on the podcasts. Even to us UK people it’s a fantastic listen.

You should post the song list in the show notes.
