Nostalgia: (def) a wistful or excessively sentimental yearning for return to or of some past period or irrecoverable condition
My name is Kevin Larrabee and I love old video games. Growing up video games were a major part of my life. From gaining friends through a common interest in games to using them as a way to escape a difficult time in school with bullies. As far back as I can remember we had video games in our house and ever since then they have been a major part of my life.
Back in my Play is a podcast for nostalgic gamers that want to revisit the memories of their favorite games growing up, as well as discover hidden gems they may have missed. My #1 rule of the podcast is that is has to be fun and positive. If the hosts aren’t having fun, how will the audience? And let’s be real, video games are fun, if you aren’t having fun do something else.
The format of the podcast is focused on three segments:
- The history of the game (Release date, development, rereleases, etc.)
- Our memories and own personal history with the game (Personal stories and memories)
- Revisiting the game (How did we play it? Impressions. Does it hold up?
Back in my Play began June 9, 2013 with episode 0 covering The Legend of Zelda for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Since then the podcast has evolved into an alternating format of focusing on a game and an interview with someone related to the field of retro gaming.
Josh Hillyer co-hosts the podcast along with a weekly guest from the world of retro games.
