The soundtrack for Mario Land 1 is amazing. Mario Land 2’s soundtrack is extremely generic.
extremely generic made me lol.
I really loved SML1’s music but I haven’t had much experience with 2 although I own it.
I think all the 2D portable Marios are among the worst of the series (though still worth playing)., but was surprised at the coldness towards Super Mario Land. At least it always had such a strong sense of individuality, odd changes and a slight sense of unease going for it.
Super Mario Land 2 struck me as a very nice attempt at emulating the console version, but the cramped levels and physics made it feel more like a “poor man’s” SMW than it’s own game to me. But, I only played and completed it once a decade ago…maybe I should give it another chance soon.
