This episode Chris Johnston and Josh Hillyer join Kevin to talk about one of the most controversial games in Nintendo’s history The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. We remember our first attempts to play the game back in 2003 and if the HD Remake helps fix the obstacles of the initial release. Awesome; a more “recent” retro game. Perhaps you guys could add Chrono Trigger (and cross) to the list! Both have great music too!
I wasn’t a huge fan of Wind Waker as a Zelda game when it came out not for aesthetics but for game play. The game drags its feet at many points throughout. Also I think this game has some of the weakest dungeons in the series. All of the late game padding made me lose interest in this game until the HD version came out and streamlined the end.
This game had some neat concepts in it but overall I think this is one of the weaker entries in the series. I enjoyed the game play experience much more in Twilight Princess, even though time has not been to kind to that game’s presentation. Definitely a disappointment for me coming off of my favorite game of all time, Majora’s Mask.
Great Episode though! Although I am not a huge fan of this game, it has a significant place in gaming history and deserves to be discussed.
I think it is telling that two of the three people in the panel gave up on finishing the game.
